Soul Daddy Restaurant Review!

I finally got a chance to chow down at  "The America's Next Great Restaurant" winner Jamawn Woods new restaurant Soul Daddy in NYC.  The restaurant is located in a prime location in the South Street Seaport.   Soul Daddy serves a healthier and lighter take on traditional soul food.

No fried chicken here! I ordered the bake chicken meal for $8.95 which comes with 2 sides and a choice of  a Whole Wheat Biscuit or a Corn Bread Waffle.     I had them both and they were excellent.  The biscuit was light and flaky.  The waffle was moist and I could taste a hint of buttermilk.  For the sides I choose Cheese Grits and Braised Kale.   My dinner date got wild rice salad with a mix green salad.
For vegetarians $7.95 gets you a plate of four side dishes.

The food was great and the potion size as you can see is pretty good.  The quality of the was great and I hope it stays that way.     Everything tasted freshly made.   The bake chicken was divine and season to perfection, I thought.  Damn that was good chicken.   I can't wait till Soul Daddy's menu is developed  a little more, to include light desserts choices like a peach cobbler, fruit crumble or sweet potato tart.

The atmosphere was very clean and modern.  It was cozy.   It has a similar feel to me as Shake Shack.  I would definitely choose to eat at Soul Daddy again.   If your in the NYC area go spend a day at the South Street Seaport.  Eat at Soul Daddy Restaurant and let me know what you think.  Lets support Jamawn Woods dream of having America's Next Great Restaurant.
